Motorpoint British Supersport
It was a challenging weekend for the Vancraft Triumph team; Josh Caygill made steady progress over the weekend and finished in 22nd and 19th places in the Motorpoint British Supersport races this weekend at the Brands Hatch GP circuit. Fellow team-mate Joe Collier struggled over the weekend and could only manage 18th place in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship race.
It was ideal weather conditions at the Kent Circuit and despite Friday being used as a testing day on the Indy Circuit, this only allowed Saturday and Sunday to find a good set up on the Vancraft Triumphs. Josh made progress all weekend and was able to improve his times in each session and go faster than he has done before at the Brands Hatch GP circuit.
Josh - "We definitely made some headway this weekend with the Vancraft Triumph and found a set up that was a compromise to help me around the track. We had to make a few changes, some that worked and some that didn't but we managed to find a happy medium and even in both races things improved and I felt more comfortable. I struggled in the second race to find a good rhythm, I got blocked into the first few corners and it took me a few laps to settle down, the race was then red flagged and re-started and I just didn't quite settle in. However, my times improved over the weekend and hopefully we can use a similar set up when we come here in October."
Metzeler Superstock 600s
Joe Collier racing for the Vancraft Triumph team in the Superstock 600 Championship had a steady weekend at the Brands Hatch GP track and finished 18th in the 12-lap race. The youngster has had a few big crashes since the start of the season and his confidence has taken a beating so he was riding on the cautious side this weekend at Brands.
Joe Collier - "It's been quite a tough weekend but after a few big crashes I just need to pull back a little bit and concentrate on finishing races, the points will come but the race finishes have to be a priority. I was cautious in qualifying and didn't want to push too hard but my race times were really good and faster than I'd gone over the weekend. I was unable to catch the group in front but if I had with my times I could have finished in the points. I felt really comfortable on the bike by the end of the race and will feel more confident when we come to Brands at the end of the season."
